Tamil Nadu extends school summer break following heat wave

The summer vacation for schools has been extended once again in Tamil Nadu. According to school education department officials, classes will resume for Standard 6 to 12 on June 12 and school will reopen for students of Standard 1 to 5 on June 14.

School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi made the announcement Monday after holding discussions with Chief Minister MK Stalin.

Initially, the schools were supposed to reopen on June 1 for Classes 6 to 12 and on June 5 for Classes 1 to 5. The reopening was postponed and Poyyamozhi had announced that classes will resume on June 7. However, the reopening has been postponed once again.
