In a major setback for Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Uddhav Thackeray and Sanjay Raut, a Mumbai Sessions Court on Monday dismissed the criminal revision plea they had filed against a defamation proceeding initiated by former colleague and ex-MP Rahul Shewale for publishing an article in the party mouthpiece, Saamana.
Advocate Manoj Pingale appeared for Thackeray and Raut, while Advocate Chitra Salunkhe represented Shewale and opposed the plea.
Special Judge AU Kadam dismissed the criminal revision application filed by Thackeray and Raut, stating, "Heard both sides. The following order is passed—Criminal Revision Application is hereby dismissed. Inform the Metropolitan Magistrate, Mumbai. The record and proceedings shall be sent back to the trial court forthwith."
