Security guard shoots self with service weapon at Tamil Nadu Air Force station

A 55-year-old security guard stationed at the Indian Air Force's (IAF) base in Tamil Nadu's Avadi has reportedly shot himself with his service weapon.
The deceased has been identified as AM Kalidoss, a resident of Tamil Nadu's Mayiladuthurai. He was employed by the Defence Security Corps (DSC).
The incident took place around 4 am on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Kalidoss was on duty at one of the watch towers when he allegedly took his own life, police said.
Around 4 am, security personnel were awoken by multiple gunshots. Kalidoss's body was found lying in a pool of blood. Muthupudupet Police has launched an investigation to find the motive behind Kalidoss's suicide.
