India will soon become a five trillion-dollar economy, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, as he addressed the BRICS Business Forum in Johanessberg, South Africa.

India will soon become a five trillion-dollar economy, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, as he addressed the BRICS Business Forum in Johanessberg, South Africa. Lauding sectors like IT, Telecom, FinTech, AI, and semiconductors, he said India is promoting the vision of 'Make in India, Make for the World'.

“Despite the turmoil in the global economy, India is currently the fastest-growing major economy in the world. Soon, India will become a five trillion-dollar economy. There is no doubt that in the coming years, India will be the Growth Engine of the world," he said.

"Over the past nine years, there has been a nearly threefold increase in people's incomes," he added. He also said women are significant contributors to India's economic growth.
