Trinamool leader filed panchayat poll nomination from Saudi, probe ordered

The Calcutta High Court has ordered West Bengal CID Deputy Inspector General to probe into the allegations against a Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate who filed his nomination for the Bengal panchayat polls from Saudi Arabia.

The Calcutta High Court has ordered West Bengal CID Deputy Inspector General to probe into the allegations against a Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate who filed his nomination for the Bengal panchayat polls from Saudi Arabia.

This comes after the court pulled up the State Election Commission for its “casual attitude” while dealing with a complaint lodged by the CPI(M) against the TMC candidate.

Justice Amrita Sinha questioned how a person named Mohinuddin Gazi from South 24 Parganas Minakha’s Kumargram panchayat filed nomination from Saudi Arabia, while he went for Haj.

The High Court also ordered that the investigation will be led by former Justice Debi Prasad De. The court said a report on the matter should be submitted in the next four weeks.
