The Mumbai Police on Friday lodged a case against social media influencer Uorfi Javed and four others for creating and sharing a fake video showing her getting arrested.

In the viral video, some women dressed as cops are seen taking Uorfi Javed into custody from a cafe. When Uorfi asks them the reason, the woman 'cop' says, “Itne chote chote kapde kaun pehenke ghumta hai (who roams around wearing such a short dress)?"

After the video went viral, Mumbai Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Krishnakant Upadhyay said that no arrest was made.

Later in the day, the Oshiwara Police registered a case against the Uorfi and other people seen in the video under sections 171, 419, 500, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These sections pertain to wearing garb or carrying a token used by a public servant with fraudulent intent (171), cheating by personation (419), defamation (500), and acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention (34).
