At least 41 people were killed and around 180 injured when two Russian ballistic missiles hit an educational facility and a nearby hospital in central Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.

The strikes targeted Ukraine's Poltava region.

Zelenskyy stated on his Telegram channel that one building at the Institute of Communications was partially destroyed, trapping people under the rubble. Many were rescued from the debris.

Social media photos from Ukraine showed several bodies lying on the ground, covered in dust and debris, with a severely damaged building visible in the background. Reuters has not yet been able to verify the authenticity of these images.
