Jordan: Tear gas canisters were fired on Sri Lankan embassy in Jordan demanding their return to Sri Lanka.

Many Sri Lankans seeking employment in Jordan have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic and are urging the Sri Lankan embassy in Amman to take action to repatriate them.

Yesterday, about 500 migrant workers besieged the Sri Lankan embassy to demand their repatriation. During this time, there was an argument between the embassy officials and the migrant workers.

Following this, the Jordanian police fired tear gas at the Sri Lankans and dispersed them.
