Karachi: Misbah-ul-Haq recently said he would step down as Pakistan cricket selection committee chairman next month.
He will also be the head coach of the Pakistan team, which has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board of the decision and will now focus solely on coaching.
Misbah, senior players Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez met with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan last month to protest against the Pakistan Cricket Board's decision to remove state-owned teams that were part of domestic cricket.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was unhappy with Misbah's decision to approach the Prime Minister directly without consulting him.
In such a scenario, Misbah will step down as chairman of the selection committee.
However, he said it was his own decision and there was no pressure from the board.
