Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput was not murdered, he committed suicide, according to the findings submitted to CBI by a team of AIIMS.
The AIIMS' panel, led by Dr Sudhir Gupta, submitted their report to CBI on Sept 29 after re-evaluating the Bollywood actor's post-mortem report.
"Sushant death is a case of suicide. Murder completely ruled out," the doctor said, according to India Today.
"There were no injuries on the body other than of hanging. There were no marks of struggle/scuffle on the body and clothes of the deceased."
Before the case was taken over by the CBI, Sushant's death was originally ruled a suicide by the Mumbai Police.
Vikas Singh, the lawyer representing Sushant's father, had previously claimed that a doctor of AIIMS had told him that the ligature marks on Sushant's neck were consistent with strangulation. "AIIMS doctor told me that Sushant's death was by strangulation," he had said in a press conference.
Sushant was found dead in his apartment on June 14. His death triggered series of protests both inside and outside India's film industry. Many claimed the actor was murdered.
His family has accused Rhea Chakraborty of abetting his suicide and misappropriating his funds. Rhea is currently in jail, on drugs-related charges pertaining to the case.
