Sri Lanka: "This country is not the heritage of the Rajapaksas. We have never allowed hereditary politics," Gnanasara Thera said. He said this during a public meeting held in Matale.
We will never allow hereditary politics. This country needs a good leadership. That is why we need a clean Buddhist who will protect this country and the Buddhists.
We elected Gotabhaya Rajapaksa with the votes of 69 lakh individual Buddhists in the last general election because we need a good Buddhist leader who will not budge and will not submit to any fundamentalist argument.
I solemnly state that we are the originators of these 69 lakh votes. We have shattered the fundamentalists' hypocrisy that "no one can win without the votes of Tamil Muslims" in the presidential election.
He said Buddhists in the country should unite during the August elections to come forward to form an unadulterated parliament.
