Sri Lanka: This was stated by Shanakiyan in a media statement issued in protest of the demolition of the Mullivaikkal Memorial at the University of Jaffna.
In his press release, he said, "My heartfelt thanks to all the people and businesses in the North East for their tremendous support for the complete lockout in a short period of time.
Today the strength of the student community is once again demonstrated. This has taught a lesson to a lot of people. Our unity is our strength. Our feeling is our right.´
I am subject to self-isolation due to fears of the spread of corona infection in Parliament. Due to this I regret not being able to come to the University of Jaffna that day.
I also regret that I was not able to visit the Mayilathamadu farmers who were beaten and tortured and admitted to the hospital.
"I will never give up on your problem. I will continue until justice is served," he said.
